In this article we’ll focus largely on the Boolean aspect, which I hope you can help us improve by responding below. The webinar will then help you bring this to life in your dashboards.
Let’s say you’re a real estate agent and you want to find people talking about buying a house
ie, "I want to buy a new house" or "We are buying a new home this year" .
In very simple terms, you can also create a category for purchase intent using a string like this: (((i OR "I'm" OR we) NEAR/3f (buy OR buying)) NEAR/3f (house OR home))
The purchase intent string can work for sellers too, just replace the buy OR buying
with sell OR selling
.
Here is a relatively extensive Boolean String for Purchase Intent, broken down into smaller strings so you can piece together the bits most relevant to you.

You'll see that the NOT operator excludes certain types of mentions that signify "sales" or "offer" type content. This is important to think about for your query, since you don't want to track mentions that are attempts to use the product name for commercial gain.
We've also excluded a lot of rude content. You might not need to do this, it will be important to preview some of your mentions when creating the query and exclude / include terms in mentions you're not interested in tracking.
