If you have any tips of your own to add, this is what the Community is for - please share them below!
itemReview: Operator
itemReview:
will help you track reviews of a specific product by product name.
For example itemReview:"xbox one"
generated 2000 mentions from 30 days, a lot of that was noise from forums and industry webpages. Not necessarily or strictly ‘reviews’ of Xbox Ones.
Steamcommunity.com was a popular result with pages like this
https://steamcommunity.com/app/632360#scrollTop=0
But what if we navigate to the Reviews tab and then add that to our string using the url:
operator
https://steamcommunity.com/app/632360/reviews/
itemReview:"xbox one" AND url:reviews
generates 500 results from 30 days from 3 different websites. We’ve gotten rid of a lot of the irrelevant data now.
-
Amazon.com
-
Steamcommunity.com
-
Walmart.com
You could narrow this down by adding the site:
operator
itemReview:"xbox one" AND url:reviews AND site:amazon.com
itemReview:”Xbox One”
will find reviews of Xbox One Controllers, Games, Headsets and cables etc. Similarly with Braun, you’ll get Shavers as well as Toothbrushes.
This string finds reviews such as “Great product” which include “Braun” in the title of the product and not necessarily in the review itself.
site:amazon.com AND itemReview:braun
Note: itemReview operator doesn't bring in Google Business Reviews
Brand + Product Reviews (on Amazon)
The science around identifying your company and an exact product is complex. Here are some examples of how combining different operators can give different results.
((itemReview:shaver* AND braun) AND site:amazon.com)
36 mentions
(itemReview:shaver)
782 mentions
((itemReview:shaver) AND (braun))
46 mentions
((itemReview:braun) AND (shaver))
36 mentions
((itemReview:shaver) AND (title:braun))
13 mentions
((itemReview:shaver) AND (url:braun))
19 mentions
(site:(amazon.com OR trustpilot.com) AND (braun))
63 mentions
(site:(amazon.com OR trustpilot.com) AND (shaver))
442 mentions
(site:(amazon.com OR trustpilot.com) AND (title:braun))
24 mentions
(site:(amazon.com OR trustpilot.com) AND (itemReview:braun))
64 mentions
(site:(amazon.com OR trustpilot.com) AND (itemReview:shaver))
411 mentions
(site:(amazon.com OR trustpilot.com) AND (url:braun))
17 mentions
Tip! Imagine Braun and wanted to look at how reviews of men’s shavers reviews compare against their competitors; Philips, Manscaped and Panasonic. If you’re not already pulling your competitor keywords through your master query, you could add each of your competitor brand names to their own category or tag. This must be used in conjunction with the other operators here so as not to blitz your mention count in seconds. You can then add the rating:
operator to this, or use the sentiment widget (amongst others) to analyse reviews.
Rating Operator
itemReview:"xbox one" AND site:amazon.com AND rating:O3 TO 5]
Rating:3
Track reviews with a rating of 3-star rating only.
rating:a3 TO 5]
Track reviews with a rating between 3 and 5 stars only.

Specific product reviews
This is a little more manual but if you pull product IDs, for example of the greatest artist of our generation, John Mayer and 2 of his albums;
site:amazon.com AND url:("B0014VPFTA" OR "B095L9LTPS")
In order to avoid unwanted matches on Amazon where the product ID is in other sections of the site, - not just the ‘Reviews’ section. We recommend url:amazon.com/product-reviews AND url:(ID1 OR ID2 OR ...
) to ensure you’re covered with common path text as well as the product IDs.
Eg. (site:amazon.com AND product-reviews) AND url:("B0014VPFTA" OR "B095L9LTPS")
Community Reviews
Remember; not all reviews involve ratings and/or are published on the usual websites. Thinking more outside the box, consider utilising “review*
” in your query string, coupled with your brand keywords to identify reviews published on Youtube or X (Twitter), for example - as well as a Proximity Operator.
“Review” could also be used in collaboration with Brandwatch’s Logo and Image search (logos and images that contain objects, scenes and actions like running) which will pull images from X, Instagram, and Reddit without using keywords.

Trust Pilot
A question from a community user yielded this result:
In order to pull reviews from Trustpilot including those that don’t mention the brand name and just say “This product is great”, use this example string:
site:trustpilot.com AND itemReview:Monzo

Hotels
… are interesting, and a little different. Rather than living on a Google My Business Page, Google Hotel Reviews have their own URL.
Eg: https://www.google.com/travel/hotels/entity/CgoI1Y3d9LS_mZdLEAE/reviews?
More interestingly, it also appears to bring in results from other travel review sites, including Trip Advisor.
(title:("hard rock" NEAR/2 hotel*)
OR ("hard rock" NEAR/2 hotel*)
OR itemReview:("hard rock" NEAR/2 hotel*))
AND site:google.com
Author Gender
Another operator you can use with review is the authorGender
operator
authorGender:F
Can be set to F
= Female or M
= Male.
Note: This is available for Facebook, Forums, Reviews and Weibo data from March 8, 2014 and X (Twitter) data from April 18, 2014 this operator allows you to specify the Gender of the authors you are interested in.
